“Vail Resorts CEO, Robert Katz, has announced that Vail ski resorts will no longer be welcoming snowboards on their ski hills. Katz suggests that snowboarders who would like to continue to access Vail’s 19 ski resorts switch to Monoskiing as an alternative.
The ban will take effect for the 2021 season and will be implemented at all Vail Resorts.”

This is a wild move by vail. Vail owns 19 resorts, many of which are some of the most famous and popular ski resorts in North America. So banning snowboarding is absolutely crazy because they have so many snowboarders going to their resorts every year. I just don’t see how this could not just cut their ticket sales in half pretty much. Snowboarding has reached a point where it’s almost just as popular as skiing so it just doesn’t make any sense to ban them anymore. If anything places like Alta and Deer Valley should be lifting their bans on snowboarders.
People need to realize that snowboarders aren’t the problem, the problem is shitty snowboarders. Good snowboarders are no worse than skiers. They ride with rhythm and can actually carve. Shitty snowboarders are a fucking hazard. They slide everywhere they go, you can never tell which way they’re about to turn, and they never look behind them so the could just turn right into you at any time if you don’t give them a fucking mile of free space. So instead of banning snowboarders vail should just ban shitty snowboarders. You should have to prove you’re rad enough before you can shred. You know what? all big mountains should just do this.
