For the last couple years Vail has been ruining smaller resorts by buying them, dumping a shitload of money into them, bringing shitty corporate policies, and then completely getting rid of the local feel of mountains and make them feel like some kind of corporate retreat. For real skiers like me and you this is terrifying because there is nothing worse than having some corporate assholes buying your mountain and make it into some place that caters to people who have skied twice in there life and will probably never ski again. It’s so goddamn stupid but it works for Vail. Dumb rich tourists who don’t understand the culture of skiing love going to some resort with really nice lifts where everyone skis slow and acts like there with their grand parents so they can have a lovely boring ass time with there piece of shit family that they most definitely hate. And Vail fucking loves it because then they can sell their epic pass to someone for $950 because they think it’s cool that they can use it at a billion different resorts, but they’re really just going to take one vacation to one ski resort and end up being totally ripped off but they’re too god damn stupid to notice.
Well Vail just spent a shit load of money to buy 17 East Coast resorts for Peak Resorts. The deal was for $264 million and includes mountains like Mount Snow Vermont and Attitash in New Hampshire. Peak is getting pounded by law suits right now because their owner is being pounded with law suits for starting the opioid epidemic and they just suck at running mountains anyway. Im actually not that upset this time because Attitash already fucking sucks so at least vail can pump a shit load of money into it and make it tolerable. They made Stratton into a popular mountain and that place is the worst mountain I’ve ever skied at. But Fuck Vail.
